Terms of Service

These terms explain the rules for using lockonAI. They are written for students, parents, tutors, teachers, and schools using lockonAI for VCE maths study support.
Please read them carefully. You should also read our Privacy Policy.
1. Introduction
These Terms of Service apply when you access or use lockonAI, including our website, app, AI feedback tools, generated questions, dashboards, subscriptions, and related services.
By creating an account, uploading work, subscribing, or otherwise using lockonAI, you agree to these Terms.
2. About lockonAI
lockonAI provides AI-assisted study support for VCE students. Students can upload handwritten maths work and receive feedback, mark estimates, explanations, topic classifications, and weakness tracking.
lockonAI is a study tool. It is not an official VCAA marking service and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or approved by VCAA.
3. Eligibility
- You may use lockonAI if you can legally agree to these Terms.
- If you are under 18, you must have permission from a parent, guardian, teacher, tutor, or school.
- If you use lockonAI on behalf of a school, tutoring business, or organisation, you confirm that you have authority to do so.
4. Accounts
- You must provide accurate account information.
- You are responsible for keeping your login details secure.
- You are responsible for activity that occurs through your account.
- You must tell us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.
5. Uploaded Content
You keep ownership of the work, images, answers, notes, and other content you upload to lockonAI.
By uploading content, you give lockonAI a limited permission to store, process, analyse, reproduce, and display that content so we can provide the service, support your account, maintain security, and comply with law.
- You must not upload content that you do not have permission to use.
- You must not upload unnecessary personal or sensitive information.
- You must not upload content that infringes someone else's rights.
- You must not upload unlawful, harmful, abusive, misleading, or malicious content.
- You must not upload malware or content designed to interfere with lockonAI or another user's account.
6. AI Feedback
lockonAI uses AI to generate feedback. AI output may contain mistakes, omissions, or unclear explanations.
Marks, topic classifications, and explanations are estimates for study support only. They are not official school, tutor, examiner, or VCAA marks.
- You should review AI feedback carefully.
- You should ask a teacher, tutor, or qualified person if you are unsure.
- You should not rely on lockonAI as your only source of academic advice.
- We do not guarantee improved marks, exam performance, SAC performance, study scores, or academic outcomes.
7. Academic Integrity
You must use lockonAI honestly and in line with your school, tutor, and exam rules.
- You must not use lockonAI to cheat.
- You must not submit AI-generated work as if it were entirely your own where that would breach your school rules.
- You must not misrepresent lockonAI feedback as official teacher, tutor, examiner, or VCAA feedback.
- You must not use lockonAI to bypass assessment conditions or academic integrity policies.
8. Subscriptions and Payments
Some features may require a paid subscription. Prices, billing periods, plan inclusions, renewal details, and cancellation terms will be shown at checkout or in the app.
Payments may be processed by Stripe or another payment provider. We do not store your full card details.
- You are responsible for reviewing the plan details before purchasing.
- Unless stated otherwise, subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled.
- You can cancel according to the instructions provided in your account, through the billing portal, or by contacting us.
- If a payment fails, we may suspend or limit access to paid features until payment is resolved.
9. Refunds
Refunds are provided where required by Australian Consumer Law.
We may also offer refunds at our discretion, but we are not required to provide refunds for change of mind, unused time, or failure to cancel before renewal unless the law requires it.
10. Acceptable Use
- You must not reverse engineer, scrape, copy, or misuse lockonAI.
- You must not overload, attack, disrupt, or interfere with our systems.
- You must not attempt to access another user's account, data, or uploaded work.
- You must not use lockonAI to build, train, or improve a competing product without permission.
- You must not use lockonAI in a way that breaches any law, school rule, or third-party right.
- You must not attempt to bypass usage limits, subscriptions, security controls, or access restrictions.
11. Tutor, Teacher, Parent, and School Use
If you invite, manage, or upload work for a student, you are responsible for making sure you have the authority and consent needed to do so.
You must use student information only for appropriate educational purposes and in accordance with applicable privacy, child safety, and school obligations.
12. Intellectual Property
lockonAI, including our software, interface, branding, prompts, workflows, generated question systems, and service design, belongs to us or our licensors.
You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or commercially exploit lockonAI without permission.
You may give us feedback or suggestions. If you do, we may use that feedback to improve lockonAI without owing you payment or attribution.
13. Privacy and Data
Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect personal information.
By using lockonAI, you agree that we may handle information as described in our Privacy Policy.
14. Third-Party Services
lockonAI relies on third-party services such as Supabase, Google Gemini, Stripe, Vercel, Resend, and similar providers.
We are not responsible for outages, errors, or changes caused by third-party services, although we will use reasonable efforts to keep lockonAI working reliably.
15. Service Availability
We aim to keep lockonAI available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access.
The service may be unavailable due to maintenance, upgrades, outages, provider issues, security incidents, or technical problems.
16. Suspension and Termination
- We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms.
- We may suspend or terminate access if your use creates legal, security, payment, or operational risk.
- We may suspend or terminate access if required by law.
- You may stop using lockonAI at any time.
If your account is terminated, some provisions of these Terms will continue to apply, including payment obligations, intellectual property terms, privacy and data terms, liability limits, and governing law.
17. Changes to lockonAI or These Terms
We may update, improve, suspend, or remove parts of lockonAI from time to time.
We may also update these Terms. If changes are significant, we will take reasonable steps to notify users. Continued use of lockonAI after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
18. Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies rights you may have under Australian Consumer Law or other laws that cannot be excluded.
Where we are allowed to limit our liability, our liability is limited to resupplying the service or paying the cost of having the service resupplied.
19. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, lockonAI is not liable for indirect loss, consequential loss, lost marks, academic outcomes, loss of data, lost revenue, or decisions made based on AI feedback.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for claims connected with lockonAI is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in the 12 months before the claim, or AUD $100 if you have not paid us.
20. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. The parties submit to the courts of Victoria, Australia.
